TYPE O NEGATIVE Frontman To Appear On VH1's 'The Surreal Life'?
May 31, 2006According to a posting on the Lords of Pain wrestling web site, TYPE O NEGATIVE frontman Peter Steele is among the celebrities who will take part in the seventh season of VH1's "The Surreal Life", a reality television series that sets a select group of out-of-the-spotlight celebrities and films them as they live together in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills. Other stars that have supposedly been cast to appear in the show include wrestler "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Playboy Playmate Tina Jordan. The information apparently came from a professional poker player by the name of Phil Hellmuth, who did an interview on Sirius Satellite Radio on Tuesday (May 30). It should be noted, however, that Peter Steele's appearance on the show has yet to be confirmed by either the band or any of the representatives for "The Surreal Life".
The sixth season of "The Surreal Life", which is currently airing on VH1, features POISON guitarist C.C. Deville alongside WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale's ex-wife, Tawny Kitaen, plus Steve Harwell of SMASHMOUTH; actor Sherman Hemsley; Playboy TV's covergirl Andrea Lowell; and Alexis Arquette.

TYPE O NEGATIVE recently entered the studio to begin recording their long-awaited new album, tentatively due in September via SPV Records. The band, whose first LP, "Slow, Deep and Hard", was issued in 1991, fulfilled their contractual obligations to longtime label Roadrunner with the release of 2003's "Life Is Killing Me". That album debuted on The Billboard 200 chart at No. 39 in June 2003 after registering a first-week sales tally of 27,000 copies. TYPE O NEGATIVE's best-selling album to date is 1994's "Bloody Kisses", which has shifted around a million copies in the U.S.
